BPC-157 – oral vs injection, is one actually better?

I keep seeing people debate this and I can’t figure out what the consensus is. I’m researching BPC-157 primarily for gut health and some general healing support. Does the route of administration actually make a difference for these goals?

I’ve seen some say oral is fine for gut, injection is needed for systemic effects. But I’ve also seen people say oral BPC-157 degrades in the stomach anyway. What does the research actually show?

This one actually has a nuanced answer based on the research literature.

For gut-specific effects: oral administration has shown meaningful results in animal studies. BPC-157 appears to be unusually resistant to gastric breakdown compared to most peptides, which is part of what makes it interesting. So for gut health specifically, oral is a reasonable route.

For systemic effects (joint healing, tendon repair, neurological): subcutaneous or intramuscular injection gets better bioavailability to systemic tissues. The peptide doesn’t have to survive the GI tract and gets into circulation more reliably.

So it’s not really oral vs. injection as a binary, it depends on your primary target. For your goals (gut health + general healing) you could make a case for either, or even both.

I’ve personally run BPC-157 subcutaneously for a knee issue and had solid results. Never tried oral so I can’t compare from experience, but Pete’s breakdown matches what I’ve read in the research summaries.

One practical note: subcutaneous injection near the site of injury seems to be a common protocol in the research literature for localized healing, worth factoring in depending on what you’re targeting.

Really helpful breakdown. Since my primary goal is gut health I’m going to start with oral and see how it goes. Will report back after 6-8 weeks. Thanks!
